<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for forming, operating, and using a smart document composed by a computer and equipped with a function for offering context-dependent tool and control and help contents to a user of the document. <P>SOLUTION: A part of the document is interpreted by an XML tag and structure, and as a result, when a user puts a cursor of a computer on this part, a context-dependent tool and control and/or help contents are provided to the user. On the computer screen of the user, a document tool pane can be opened in the part adjacent to a document to be edited for offering a document tool and control or help contents, which are related to a context of a text or data pointed by the cursor. When the user moves the cursor to another part in the document, the user can obtain information related to the context of the new part selected by the cursor in the document. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
