PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering effort and steering angle detector capable of detecting a steering angle in addition to steering effort, affected hardly by a peripheral environment such as a temperature, capable of preventing a sensor characteristic from being affected by a material or the like, and highly reliable. SOLUTION: This detector is provided with a torsion bar 11 for generating a torsion by the steering effort, an input side magnetic drum 21 attached to an input side of the torsion bar, an output side magnetic drum 22 attached to an output side of the torsion bar, a magnetic pattern recorded magnetically on the input side magnetic drum, a magnetic pattern recorded magnetically on the output side magnetic drum, the first magnetic sensor 15 for reading magnetic records on the input side magnetic drum and the output side magnetic drum, a steering central position detecting drum 23A moved along an axial direction of the input side magnetic drum when the control force acts thereon, and the second magnetic sensor 23C for detecting an axial-directional position of the steering central position detecting drum to detect the central position of steering.
