PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state image pickup device in which a satisfactory dynamic range can be obtained, and a solid pattern noise can be reduced. SOLUTION: In this solid state image pickup device, the output clock of a clock amplitude control circuit 10 is applied to the gate of a reading switch. The clock amplitude control circuit 10 is configured of two current mirror circuits 12 and 14, a circuit configured of current sources 16 and 18, and one transistor 20. The transistor 20 is set in the same size as that of the reading switch. The size of each transistor configuring the current mirror circuits 12 and 14 is adjusted, and predetermined currents are set as the value of currents running when a voltage between the gate/source of the transistor 20 is equal to a threshold, and the reset potential of a photoelectric converting part is applied to the input of the transistor 20.
