PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM communication apparatus wherein the SONET / SDH frames can accommodate packets, frames and cells of an ATM service and other service such as an IP service and Ethernet (R) service at the same time. SOLUTION: A GFP accommodation means 11 accommodates a signal from a port 101 for accommodating the IP service to a GFP frame. A GFP accommodation means 12 accommodates a signal from a port 102 for accommodating the Ethernet (R) service to the GFP frame. A GFP accommodation means 13 accommodates a signal from a port 103 for accommodating the ATM service to the GFP frame. A SONET/SDH accommodation means 14 accommodates the IP packet, the Ethernet (R) frame, and the ATM cell respectively accommodated to the GPF frame by the GFP accommodation means 11 to 13 to the SONET/SDH frame.
