FIXING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently detect a temperature with a thermostat in the case where a heat roller has an abnormal temperature in a fixing device. SOLUTION: The fixing device comprises: the heat roller 130 formed from a rotor which is an elastic metal member having flanges 300 attached to both its ends; bearings 320 which support the heat roller 130 via the flanges 300 so that the roller 130 is freely rotatable; an induction heating means 180 which is disposed opposite the peripheral face of the heat roller 130 and has an exciting coil 220 which causes the heat roller 130 to generate heat by electromagnetic induction; a heat-resistant belt 150 in the form of an endless belt stretched between a fixing roller which forms a fixing nip and the heat roller 130; and a thermostat 210 which is disposed opposite the heat roller 130 of the induction heating means 180 and stops the supply of power to an exciting coil 220 in the case of detecting an abnormal temperature of the heat roller 130.
