PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective dosage formulation of a colon purgative easily and comfortably administerable. SOLUTION: The colon purgative formulation can be administered orally and used for bringing partial or complete dejection of colon of mammal. The formulation substance comprises a non-aqueous mixture of a purgative salt selected from the group consisting of Mg<SB>3</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>, MgHPO<SB>4</SB>, Mg(H<SB>2</SB>PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>2</SB>, MgSO<SB>4</SB>, MgCl<SB>2</SB>, Na<SB>2</SB>SO<SB>4</SB>, sodium tartrate, potassium tartrate, magnesium tartrate and mixtures thereof, and is administered at an effective concentration of the purgative in the form of a tablet or capsule. Preferably, at least one kind of magnesium phosphate (more preferably dibasic magnesium phosphate) is used. Another preferable embodiment includes an addition of a binder, a dispersing agent and a buffering agent. These do not impart a malinfluence to the osmotic pressure or effectiveness of the purgative formulation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
