DISPLAY DRIVER AND METHOD FOR DRIVING LIGHT-EMISSIVE VIDEO DISPLAY IN IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method of reducing the power consumption needed to display an image by using a light-emissive display.

SOLUTION: In this method, a display mode is selected from at least a first and a second mode. The image is displayed on the display device when the first mode is selected and the image is displayed in a modified form when a second mode is selected. The image is modified so that displaying the image in the second mode consumes less power than displaying the image in the first mode. A signal processor modifies the appearance of the image as displayed in the second mode so that the display of the image in the second mode consumes less power than the display of the same image in the first mode. A device controller determines a display mode for displaying the image and generate a display mode select signal. The signal processor processes the image in the mode indicated by the display mode select signal.
