<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which is constituted so that the service life of parts can be prolonged by rationally operating the driving motor of an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: (a) indicates an action of a scanner motor, (b) indicates the characteristic of "scanner ready", (c) indicates an action of a driving motor of an image carrier and (d) indicates a signal of a position sensor of the intermediate transfer belt. The scanner motor is started at time Ta and the rated speed is reached by the time Tc when the "scanner ready" is finished. The driving motor of the image carrier is started at the same time as the scanner motor at the time Ta and is operated at 1/2 the speed of the rated speed up till the time Tc when the scanner motor reaches the rated speed. When the rated speed is reached by the scanner motor at time Tc, initializing process is finished by having the intermediate transfer belt rotated for one round of a trajectory and the driving motor is operated by increasing the speed to the rated speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
