PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaporator capable of suppressing generation of cavities in a brazed part and preventing cracking due to freezing. SOLUTION: The evaporator has a refrigerant inlet/outlet part 7 which is composed of a fin hold-down plate 6 connected with the ends 41 and 51 of tanks 4 and 5 and generating fixation by pressing the cooling fins 2A at the outermost shell to a tube 1A and a cup 8 which has such a constitution that an upper cup plate 81 and a lower cup plate 82 are connected together and is fixed to the fin hold-down plate 6 by brazing the lower cup plate 82 to the fin hold-down plate 6 and forms a refrigerant passage 83 in communication to the opening 42 of the tank 4, wherein a projection 82b confronting the brazing surface 6a of the fin hold-down plate 6 is formed on the brazing surface 82a of the lower cup plate 82.
