PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heat an article of food by a microwave oven so as to satisfy a user. SOLUTION: This microwave oven 1 is provided, below a heating chamber 10, with a waveguide 19 for connecting a magnetron 12 to the lower part of a body frame 5. Microwaves guided to the heating chamber 10 through the waveguide 19 are diffused to a bottom plate 9 through a radiation antenna 15. A waveguide 50 is installed on the right side of the heating chamber 10. The waveguide 50 is a pipe extending from an introduction opening 50A to an exit 50B, and installed so as to connect a part of the heating chamber 10 lower than the bottom plate 9 to a part thereof higher than the bottom plate 9. By installing the waveguide 50, the microwaves generated by the magnetron 12 is guided from the introduction opening 50A to the exit 50B. That is to say, the microwaves generated by the magnetron 12 is supplied to the article of food in the heating chamber 10 not only from the lower side but also from the upper side by installing the waveguide 50.
