PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of requiring labor for replacement as each wiper is installed by a large number of machine screws in a telescopic conventional protective cover for covering a column front face of a machine tool. SOLUTION: A wiper installing piece 45 of upwardly folding the right end is arranged on a fixed cover plate 11L and a sliding cover plate 31, and the wiper 37 is sandwiched by and fastened to this wiper installing piece 45 by a holder 39. The holder 39 has relatively hard spring elasticity by embedding a metallic core material 47 in synthetic rubber, and has a cross section of an almost U shape. Installation is performed by externally fitting the holder 39 from above by engaging an engaging part 37a bent in a U shape of the wiper 37 with the wiper installing piece 45. Thus, the wiper 37 is attached-detached in a short period of time without using a special tool, and thus, an installing state of the wiper 37 is firmly held by sandwiching force of the holder 39.
