PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method which narrows the space of a coating building, eliminates the occurence of a strain after drying of a coated article, and facilitates product control or the like, and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: A coating method is performed through a process for feeding a pretreated uncoated article Wa into a housing control booth 3, a coating process for feeding the uncoated article Wa into a plurality of coating booths 6 from the housing control booth 3 and a process for feeding out the coated article Wb from a plurality of the coating booths 6 to feed them into a drying control booth 5. Air conditioning equipment 22 and a feed means 7 of the uncoated article Wa and the coated article Wb are operationally controlled by the command from a control means 21 in which the air conditioning data of the air conditioning equipment 22 in a coating building 1, the take in and out control data in the housing control booth 3, coating data in the coating booth 6 and the drying control and take in and out control data in the drying control booth 5 are inputted. The uncoated article Wa is fed in the housing control booth 3 by the feed means 7 and the uncoated article Wa is fed out from the housing control booth 3 and fed in the coating booths 6 to be fed in the drying control booth 5.
