In a suspension device for steering propellers of waterborne craft wherein the casing 12<SP>1</SP> (comprising a gear-case 12 in which is rotatably arranged a steering case 13) carrying the propeller 10 and containing drive transmission and steering gears extending below the surface 14 of the water is swivellable for steering purposes about an axis in the casing and extending approximately vertically in the operating position and is tiltable about a horizontal tipping axis 24 above the water line, the drive transmission gear in the casing being disengageable from the driving device for supplying motive power to the propeller and the steering gear from the steering actuating device by means of a coupling or clutch 11 and 15 respectively, the casing 12<SP>1</SP> is additionally swivellable about an axis (e.g. the axis of a swivel pin 19) which extends at an angle to the tipping axis 24 (thus allowing the propeller to be swung over the side 38 of the craft.
