A WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) to UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) terminal connection procedure uses a Universal Chip Card (UICC) in the terminal to monitor (1) the local network activity and then sends the network type (3) and identity to the terminal, starts a logical link (4, 5) and requests (6, 7) specific subscriber identity, password, key and address data from the network.
