Process for preparing a plastics molded body from a mixture of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and polystyrene involving preparation of a high viscosity syrup from PMMA, methyl methacrylate (MMA), impact tough PMMA, MMA and polystyrene and polymerization by a known casting process is new. An Independent claim is included for a plastics molded body obtainable by polymerization of a mixture containing (wt.%): methyl methacrylate (65-99.0), unsaturated carboxylic acid (0-3), impact tough modifier or modifier mixture (10-35), crosslinker (0-1), polystyrene or polystyrene derivative (0.7-2.5), stabilizer (0.3-1), initiator (0.001-0.1), and separating agent (0.01-1) by a conventional polymerization process.
