<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor that allows stable speed control until the motor reaches steady state rotation from startup without causing fault detection at a PWM-off time, and to provide a disk unit using the motor. <P>SOLUTION: The motor comprises a position detector 30 that includes a voltage comparator 31, a detection pulse generator 32, a removal pulse generator 33 and a position detection switch 34. The motor is configured such that: a position detection switch signal DS of the position detection switch 34 is outputted in response to a speed command signal Ac of a command unit 40; and the position detector 30 performs position detection using the position detection switch signal DS by switching first position detection that performs position detection at only a PWM-on side and second position detection that performs position detection at both PWM-on/off sides. The second position detection is performed until the motor reaches the steady state rotation from the startup, and the first position detection is performed at the steady state rotation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
