<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic musical instrument capable of selecting the best accompaniment pattern for a set tempo and automatically playing an accompaniment at the set tempo. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic musical instrument retrieves accompaniment patterns suitable for a tempo at which the accompaniment is played from many stored accompaniment patterns and displays the extracted accompaniment patterns on a display screen. A player selects an accompaniment pattern out of the accompaniment patterns displayed on the display screen and starts an automatic accompaniment at the set tempo.
