<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for refining a coke oven gas which makes the facility scale of a first gas-liquid contact column smaller than the conventional one. <P>SOLUTION: The process for refining a coke oven gas comprises introducing the coke oven gas to the first gas-liquid contact column 1, bringing the coke oven gas into contact with an absorbing liquid to absorb hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide, and then introducing the gas thus treated into a second gas-liquid contact column 2, bringing the gas into contact with water as the absorbing liquid to remove ammonia. By setting the ratio of the liquid to the gas in this second gas-liquid contact column 2 at 0.6-1.2 L/Nm<SP>3</SP>and the inlet temperature therein at 25-40°C, the absorption reaction for hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide is allowed to proceed in the second gas-liquid contact column 2 as well. Thus, it is unnecessary to complete desulfurization in the first gas-liquid contact column 1 alone, and the first gas-liquid contact column 1 can be made smaller than the conventional one and the facility cost can be reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
