PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner remaining amount detecting device in which the remaining amount of toner in a toner container is accurately detected. SOLUTION: The rotation torque of a rotating shaft 6 of a paddle as a rotator is calculated with a torque detector 10, a detection signal is output from the torque detector 10 to a calculation circuit 11, and the remaining amount of the toner is derived from the relation between the measured value of torque and the remaining amount of toner which is preliminarily stored in the calculation circuit 11.
