PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet apparatus which flushes by calculating a flushing amount necessary for each nozzle on the basis of an ink weight jetted from each nozzle during printing. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a recording head 6 for jetting ink from a plurality of nozzles 15, a head driving means 28 which carries out a recovery operation for jetting characteristics of the recording head 6 by at least jetting of ink from the nozzles 15, a jetting weight detecting means 33 for detecting for every nozzle 15, a jetting weight of ink jetted by each nozzle 15 in the middle of printing after a previous recovery operation, a flushing amount calculating means 32 for calculating for every nozzle 15, the flushing amount necessary for the present flushing operation at each nozzle 15 on the basis of the jetting weight for every nozzle 15 detected by the jetting weight detecting means 33, and a flushing control means 29 for controlling flushing for every nozzle 15 according to the calculated flushing amount.
