PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and certainly fix a liquid crystal display device to a casing of a notebook computer or the like by backside mounting. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with: a bottomed box type bottom case 4 with an opening 5 on a front surface; a lamp chamber 7 formed so as to be disposed along an inner face of the bottom case and having a plurality of fluorescent lamps 8 with the shapes of straight tubes arranged inside; a reflection plate 6 having sloped walls 14, 15 formed on end parts in a direction orthogonal to an axis direction of the fluorescent lamps; an optical diffusion plate 19 mounted on the front surface of the fluorescent lamps; and a liquid crystal panel 23 mounted on the front surface of the optical diffusion plate. Attaching holes 28 for backside mounting are provided opposite to corner spaces 16, 17 produced between the sloped walls of the reflection plate of the bottom case and the bottom case.
