PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the utilization factor of light introduced to a pixel constituting body and further to improve contrast. SOLUTION: The display device 10 is equipped with an actuator substrate 32 having an actuator part 22, an optical waveguide plate 20, a bar 42 intervening between the plate 20 and the substrate 32 and surrounding the actuator part 22, and the pixel constituting body 30 bonded on the actuator part 22. In the device 10, the constituting body 30 is provided with a transparent layer 54 coming into contact with or coming close to the plate 20 and a coloring layer 52 arranged under the layer 54, and the area A of the layer 54 opposed to the plate 20 is made equal to or smaller than the projected area B of the layer 52.
