PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visible outline detector that can easily recognize the visible outline of an electronic component projected upon a CCD camera as a shadow with a simplified structure. SOLUTION: This visible outline detector is provided with a planar UV light source 11, a prism 12 provided on the light source 11, and a plate 14 coated with a fluorescent paint and the CCD camera 17 both of which are positioned behind the electronic component 10. The UV light 13 emitted from the UV light source 11 excites the fluorescent film of the plate 14 to emit visible light 16 through the prism 12. When the visible light 16 emitted from the excited fluorescent film is entered into the CCD camera 17, this visible outline detector detects the visible outline of the component 10 by obtaining the image of the component 10.
