PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with overturning moment at a reduced cost even when the overturning moment produced by a horizontal force is large. SOLUTION: In this steel foundation for supporting a unit building formed of a plurality of building units combined with each other on a ground and the unit building, a foundation body 21 comprises a reinforced concrete base part 22 and a steel columnar rise part 23. The rise part 23 is positioned immediately below a unit column 11 forming the building unit 10, and the upper parts of the rise parts 23 are rigidly connected to the unit columns 11 and the lower part of the rise part 23 is pin-connected to the base part 22. In addition, the upper part of the rise part 23 is pin-connected to the unit column 11 and at least one of a diagonal material 51 and a horizontal material 53 is connected to the rise part 23.
