PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide washing water which has sufficient detergency, prevents damage to glass and the occurrence of latent defects, and, even when glass washed therewith is press-shaped, prevents a poor surface precision and the occurrence of cracks; and a washing method using it. SOLUTION: The washing water is used for washing glass containing an alkali metal and/or an alkaline-earth metal. The washing water contains an alkali metal ion in such a content as to have an electric conductivity of 80-220μS/cm, has a pH of >7 and≤8, and substantially does not contain the other cations (except those derived from water molecules). In the washing method of a shaped glass for a glass optical device, this washing water is used for the washing process. In the manufacturing method of the shaped glass for the washed glass optical device, the washing water is used for washing. The manufacturing method of the glass optical device contains the process of washing the shaped glass for glass optical device using the washing water, the process of heat-softening the washed shaped glass, and the process of press-molding it with a mold.
