A composite with several layers (13a) of fiber reinforcement, e.g. fabric, in an adhesive resin has a transverse yarn (16a) running through the layers. The yarn runs in straight sections (17a, 18a), partially at an angle (17a), e.g. 15 to 25 degrees and partially parallel (18a) along the outer surface (14a, 15a), generally in a zigzag manner. The free end (20a) of the yarn protrudes sideways at the end (12a).
