<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining the optimum amount of charge for BOD analysis, which can improve the accuracy of BOD analysis. <P>SOLUTION: The method for calculating the amount of a sample to be charged into a test bottle for BOD analysis of water comprises a first step of obtaining a sample amount 1 and a sample amount 2 of an arbitrary BOD value based on the following formulae (1-1) and (1-2), and then calculating a median 1 of these two values, a second step of sequentially obtaining the sample amount 1, the sample amount 2 and medians (n) (wherein n=2, 3, 4) using the median 1 as a starting point based on the following formula (2), and a third step of selecting a charge amount from a set of the medians (n): Sample 1 = Upper limit of oxygen demand determined according to BOD basic theory × Volume of bottle ÷ BOD value---Formula (1-1); Sample 2 = Lower limit of oxygen demand determined according to BOD basic theory × Volume of bottle ÷ BOD value---Formula (1-2) Median(n) = Median (n-1) of one step above ×0.563---Formula (2). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
