PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging apparatus comprising a scanner, e.g. a laser, in which apparent representability of both a monochromatic image and a color image is enhanced. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 1 comprises a scanner 10 having a semiconductor laser light emitting section 111 irradiating a laser beam L and forming an image by scanning a photosensitive drum 17 optically with the laser beam L in the main scanning direction and the subscanning direction thereby exposing the photosensitive drum 17 wherein the maximum density writing ratio (main scanning : subscanning) in the main scanning direction and the subscanning direction of a maximum density writing region in one pixel is set at N:1 (1<N).
