PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuously changing the valve opening lift amount of an engine valve in a valve gear of an internal combustion engine where a valve contact piston whose one end comes into contact with the engine valve whose spring is energized in a valve closing direction, and the other end is slidably inserted in a locker arm swingingly supported with the locker shaft having a cam contact part coming in contact with a valve gear cam. SOLUTION: A relief valve 33A for changing an opening valve pressure corresponding to the hydraulic change of a control oil pressure chamber 32A formed in the locker arm 21A is installed in the locker arm 21A for relieving working fluid of the oil pressure chamber 28A on opening the valve. An oil pressure control valve 35 for controlling the oil pressure from an oil pressure supplying source 34 is installed between the oil pressure supplying source 34 and the control oil pressure chamber 32A. The oil pressure chamber 28A is connected to the oil pressure supplying source 34 via an one-direction valve 51 for preventing a counter current into the oil pressure supplying side 34.
