VOICE MAIL DISTRIBUTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice mail distribution method whereby a number of voice mail apparatuses can be installed depending on an actual number of users independently of the number of near distance telephone networks. SOLUTION: A voice mail service distribution system includes: voice mail apparatuses capable of storing and reproducing voice messages on a computer network; short range telephone networks comprising subscriber line telephone exchanges for accommodating communication terminals; and data communication gateway connected to both the subscriber line exchange and the computer network and converting voice communication in the short range telephone networks into data communication in the computer network. A call from a communication terminal is connected to a data communication gateway via the short range telephone networks. The voice communication is converted into the data communication and connected to the voice mail apparatus on the computer network. The voice message is stored in the voice mail apparatus, or the voice message reproduced by the voice mail apparatus is transmitted to the communication terminal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
