PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor which can improve an efficiency of heat exchange between switching elements and a compressor housing. SOLUTION: An element receiving groove 51 is formed on an outer surface 23b of the compressor housing of the electric compressor. Switching elements 45 as components of an inverter 41 for driving the electric motor are retained in the element receiving groove 51. Heat radiating surfaces 45c of the switching elements 45 retained in the element receiving groove 51 are in contact with inner surfaces 52a, 53a of the element receiving groove 51.
