INKJET RECORDER AND ITS INK DROP DETECTING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an ejected ink drop accurately regardless of the positional relationship of a detecting element and each nozzle or the size of the ink drop. SOLUTION: An infrared sensor 15 detects an electromagnetic wave (radiation heat) being radiated from an ink drop 14 ejected from the nozzle 12 of a recording head 11 and a detecting circuit 16 makes a decision whether the ink drop has passed or not. Driving conditions of the heater 13 of each nozzle are varied depending on the distance between the infrared sensor 15 and the nozzle 12 such that the output from the infrared sensor becomes substantially constant for the ink drop ejected from any nozzle.
