PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal separator in which a problem of a bearing part is solved by constituting a driving shaft for rotating a bowl at high speed by small diameter, accuracy related to a scraping plate is outstandingly relaxed and the over-load state is not generated even in the scraping step. SOLUTION: In the centrifugal separator using vertical bowl and taking-in a suspension from an opening at lower side of the bowl, a bearing having small diameter can be applied to a bearing mechanism of rotation shaft of the bowl and working/assembling accuracy of the scraping plate is relaxed. Namely, a turning shaft 15 is provided upright at a position deviated from a cylinder shaft of the bowl 8 from the opening 9 side and the scraping plate 18 of single plate is fixed to the turning shaft 15. The scraping plate 18 is retreated to the cylinder shaft side at solid/liquid separation step and a side end (blade) 18a of the scraping plate 18 is brought into contact with a solid phase deposited on an inner wall surface of the bowl at a scraping step of the solid phase. Since it is not required that the driving shaft of the scraping plate is fitted to the rotation shaft 7 of the bowl 8, the bearing having a small inner diameter can be applied to the bearings 5, 6 and since the scraping plate 18 is single plate, the working/assembling accuracy at a relationship of the inner wall surface of the bowl 8 is relaxed.
