PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic operation device which can be compatible with any newly-developed or prepared hand pieces of different resonance frequencies without replacing its main unit, by quickly responding the change so as to commonly use the identical main unit, and can implement a high-precision drive circuit. SOLUTION: A hand piece 51, detachably connected to a power supply unit 50, is equipped with a built-in Read Only Memory (ROM) 53 to store the data in relation to the mechanical resonance frequency of the hand piece 51. Based on the data in relation to the mechanical resonance frequency stored in the ROM 53, a digital signal processor 55 provided in the power supply unit 50 is driven to produce frequency signals which are used to drive an ultrasonic oscillator, and then the frequency signals produced by the signal processor 55 are amplified and outputted to the ultrasonic oscillator 52.
