PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side-by-side type polyester conjugate fiber hardly having unevenness of qualities such as a size unevenness (U%) and fluff even by using polymers having 0.1-0.4 difference in intrinsic viscosities, and having suitable whiteness for the use as clothes. SOLUTION: The polyester conjugate fiber is obtained by carrying out conjugate spinning of two kinds of polyethylene terephthalate-based polymers having intrinsic viscosities having difference within the range of 0.1-0.4, and synthesized by using a titanium compound and a phosphonate compound each soluble in the polyester.
