The invention relates to car starters. The inventive starter is provided with a drive pinion axially mounted on the clutch shaft thereof. Said drive pinion is geared by a drive coupling, interacts with a lever actuated by a ignition switch with the aid of a tie rod and comprises a drive pinion (3) arranged on a drive sleeve (4) which is connected to the drive coupling (2) in such a way that the drive pinion (3) is disconnected from the drive sleeve (4) by a torque corresponding to a determined rotational pattern. It is coupled by means of a rocking lever (8) and the tie rod (11) to a device which forms mechanical cut-out and is provided with a calibrated backmoving spring (25) which retains the tie rod (11) in a solenoid (12) until a predetermined tractive power threshold is reached. Said invention is used for safety starters.
