摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large-scale manufacturing method for an optical compensator for a liquid crystal display. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the optical compensator comprises the steps of: (a) forming a liquid-crystal-containing coating on an orientation layer on a transparent support by applying liquid containing a nematic liquid crystal compound in a solvent carrier; (b) forming a liquid-crystal-containing layer by heating and drying the liquid-crystal-containing coating; (c) forming an anisotropic nematic liquid crystal layer by generating a nematic phase by cooling the liquid-crystal-containing layer almost at or below its isotropic nematic phase transition temperature Tc for at least 5 seconds; and (d) forming an integrated component by polymerizing and/or curing the anisotropic nematic liquid crystal layer at a temperature below the Tc of the anisotropic nematic liquid crystal layer by using a radiation beam. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
