PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a synthetic gas through the ATR (autothermal reforming) method which can be stably performed over a long time, wherein a raw material gas is well mixed with an oxidative gas within a partially oxidizing region inside a reactor and a uniform partial oxidation proceeds to inhibit the formation of soot and hot spots caused by peroxidation, and an apparatus therefor.
SOLUTION: The process for preparing the synthetic gas from a lower hydrocarbon gas employs an upper region into which the lower hydrocarbon gas and an oxidative gas are separately jetted and mixed, an intermediate region wherein the mixture of the two gases undergoes partial oxidation and a lower region wherein a steam reforming reaction is performed in the presence of a catalyst. The upper region employs an ATR reactor having a burner comprising a plurality of concentric, double-pipe nozzles for jetting the two gases toward the intermediate region. The number of the nozzles is 4-300, and the interval between the nozzles is 5-20 cm. The flow rate U1 of the gas jetted from the inner nozzle is 100-300 m/sec, and the ratio U2/U1 of the flow rate U2 of the gas jetted from the outer nozzle to the flow rate U1 is 0.15-0.5.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
