LIGHT SOURCE, POWER SUPPLYING CIRCUIT AND LAMP CONTROLLER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a single light source to emit visible and invisible lights. SOLUTION: Internal electrodes 23a, 23b and external electrodes 25a, 25b are mounted on a fluorescent lamp 20. When a discharge is generated between the external electrodes 25a, 25b by turning on a power supplying circuit 30o, generated light is strong in visible light and weak in infrared rays. When a discharge is generated between the internal electrodes 23a, 23b by turning on a power supplying circuit 30i, generated light is strong in infrared rays and weak in visible light. Accordingly, the fluorescent lamp 20 has a mode for reading by utilizing the visible light and a mode for reading by utilizing the infrared rays. A lamp controller 41 selectively switches the light emission mode of the fluorescent lamp 20. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
