PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sufficient air-tightness, even when distortion is caused, due to a rise in pressure, in an encapsulating case. SOLUTION: In an electrolytic capacitor 1, a capacitor element 2 is stored within a cylindrical encapsulating case 3 with a bottom, having the visual upper surface shape of the elongated circular shape, including a side surface region consisting of the almost parallel linear portions and a curved portion connected thereto, an aperture of the encapsulating case 3 is sealed with a sealing member 5, the opening end of the encapsulating case 3 is subjected to the curling process for sealing the internal side of the encapsulating case 3, an electrode terminal 4 electrically connected to the capacitor element 2 is extended from the sealing member 5. Moreover, a stepping portion 12 in contact with the lower surface of the sealing member 5 is provided, only to the area except for the side surface regions 11a, 11b which are opposed almost in parallel with the encapsulating case 3.
