PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive capable of deriving the optimum recording power (or the recording power close to it) of laser beams independently of the condition of optical disk and improving the recording quality of data with respect to the optical disk. SOLUTION: At least one of the eccentricity, mass eccentricity and surface wobbling of the optical disk is investigated, and when the amount in the investigation result exceeds the allowable value, the OPC (Optimum Power Control) is carried out several times (e.g. three times) to decide the recording power of the laser beams emitted from the optical head. In this case, the average of recording power values obtained by the OPC carried out several times is taken as the above-mentioned recording power. Meanwhile, when the amount in the investigation result does not exceed the allowable value, the OPC is carried out once, then the recording power obtained by this OPC is taken as the recording power.
