PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide parts for optical fiber connection, which make it easy to adjust the distance between optical fiber ends when they are connected, make it hard for an optical fiber to break during portage and connection and are small in the number of components and low in cost, and to provide a method for connecting optical fibers by using the part. SOLUTION: In the connection methods for optical fibers, two optical fiber connecting parts are used which each comprise a connection member which is provided with guides for rod-like joining members at or nearby both ends and has one or more through holes for optical fibers, the rod-like joining member, and a plug having a through hole for the rod-like joining member so that the connection member is arranged at the plug slidably by the rod-like joining member inserted into the plug. Then the two optical fiber connecting members are arranged opposite each other having the optical fibers inserted into through holes for the optical fibers and the through holes of both the connecting members are made to abut against each other; and both the connecting members are slid in the direction of the center axes of the optical fibers along the rod-like joining members guided by the guides and the optical fibers are joined in the through hole of one connecting member.
