PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader wherein stable image quality is obtained. SOLUTION: In the image reader with a light source 103 for illuminating an original for reading the image of the original moving to the stationary light source 103, a blowing means 113 for blowing air from the outside of the image reader to the inside is provided. The blowing means 113 is installed such that the air blown by the blowing means does not directly hit the stationary light source 103. The direction of the blown air from the blowing means is changed on a wall surface present in the blowing direction of the blowing means and it turns to the light source and hits the light source 103 uniformly over the longitudinal direction of the light source 103.
