A charge leak off coating for a toner transfer drum obtainable by hydrolytic condensation of a mixture including at least one hydrolysable silicon compound, where the mixture to be condensed includes at least one alkenyl group carrying ether is new. A charge leak off coating for a toner transfer drum (sic) obtainable by hydrolytic condensation of a mixture including at least one hydrolysable silicon compound of formula (I):(structure I, page 7): X = halogen or alkoxy substituted alkoxy, OH-, halogen-, aryloxy-, and acyloxy, H, straight chain, branched, or cyclic alkyl, alkenyl, and alkinyl, especially 5-20C, R = alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, aryl, where the groups can optionally include one or more substances inert under the reaction conditions used, the alkyl includes cyclic and acryl substituted residues, the alkenyl and alkinyl groups can be cyclic, the aryl group includes alkaryl groups, and the named groups can contain one or more substances inert under the reaction conditions used, n = 1-4, the mixture also includes one or more hydrolytically condensable compounds of Si or other elements selected from B, Al, P, Sn, Pb, transition metals, lanthanides, actinides, where at least one of the monom ers for condensation is a compound derived from an Si compound of formula (II):(structure (II), page 7):Y = H, halogen, OH, optionally substituted alkoxy, acyloxy, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, or NR'2; z = quaternary ammonium salt derived from R22 N(R3-NR2-)k-R3, or Z = (formula (III), page 7), R = optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkaryl, or aralkyl; R' = H, alkyl or aryl; R2 = H, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl; R3 = optionally substituted alkylene, alkenylene, or arylene, Am- = anion of charge number m, Kn+ = cation of charge number n; a = 1,2, or 3; b = 2, 3, or 4; k = 0, 1, 2, or 3, where the mixture to be condensed includes at least one alkenyl group carrying ether. Independent claims are included for: (1) a process for preparation of the coating, preferably on a toner transfer drum, by hydrolytic condensation of the above mixture and finally curing of the coating in the presence of a photoinitiator; (2) preparation of the coating on the toner transfer drum by application of a charge producing layer (generator layer) on the cylindrical substrate, application of a transport layer onto this first layer, and application of a protective charge leaking off coating to the second layer.
