PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air belt device capable of softly fitting an air belt on an occupant, reducing length of the air belt at the time of collision, etc. and certainly protecting the occupant. SOLUTION: The air belt 2B is furnished with a bag type belt 10 and a knit cover 12 made of textile. The bag type belt 10 is provided with a wider part covering a breast to an abdomen of the occupant seated on a seat and is made into a long belt by folding this wider part as shown in a drawing 2. The knit cover 12 is made of the textile which can be flexibly extended and contracted in the cross direction but scarcely extended in the longitudinal direction. The air belt 2B expands when a gas generator 8 works in a state where a tang 5 is installed on a buckle device 4. At this time, length of the air belt 2B of the knit cover 12 in the longitudinal direction is reduced and the air belt 2B is stuck to the occupant, and consequently, it is possible to extremely certainly protect the occupant.
