<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly shield such kind of light as incident from a direction inclined with respect to an active matrix substrate without lowering an aperture ratio. <P>SOLUTION: In the active matrix substrate 10 of a liquid crystal display device, an upper surface of the third interlayer insulating film 21 is flat. Also respective side faces of the second and third interlayer insulating films 19, 21, disposed on a thick layer part of the first interlayer insulating film 17, form a vertical plane continued to respective side faces of the first interlayer insulating film 17. The respective side faces of both sides of the first, second and third interlayer insulating films 17, 19, 21 are respectively covered with side face light insulating layers 23. The respective side face light insulating layers 23 are patterned in specified shapes so as to be along respective side faces of a polycrystalline silicon film 31 part located on the lower side of a capacitance electrode 15 and respective side faces of a gate wiring line 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
