PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize small power consumption of an IC for a magneto-optical disk player of a pit edge recording method and a play-back method for quickly detecting the edge with high accuracy. SOLUTION: In this method for playing back the magneto-optical disk, which detects the intersection of a reproduced signal and a slice level as an edge position of a recording pit, a PLL circuit comprising a first phase comparator, a charge pump, a loop filter and a VCO (voltage controlled oscillator), and a signal processing circuit comprising a second phase comparator, a second charge pump, a second loop filter are provided. The second phase comparator detects a phase difference between threshold processed reproduced data and a clock subjected to phase synchronization with the reproduced data by the PLL circuit or digital data. The slice level is corrected by adding a correction portion calculated from the phase difference to a reference slice level. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
