PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which can suppress the occurrence of reverse transition in the case of using an OCB liquid crystal and can display excellent video. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display element which has a plurality of source lines supplied with pixel data, a plurality of gate lines supplied with a scanning signal, and transistors arranged in matrix corresponding to intersections of the source lines and gate lines and is so structured that one electrode of a liquid crystal cell and one electrode of an intentionally formed storage capacitor are arranged on the drain side of each transistor and the other electrode of the storage capacitor is wired to an electrode other than the the other electrode of the liquid crystal cell; and a voltage for video signal display is applied in a specified period in one frame period, a voltage different from the video signal display is applied in another specified period, and a voltage different from the video signal display is applied from one electrode of the storage capacitor as an electrode different from the source line.
