PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor in which an image is efficiently formed even though an organic photoconductive layer is made thinner, an image having superior resolution is obtained and fluctuation in image quality is reduced even though the photoreceptor is repeatedly used over a long period, to provide an image forming apparatus with which high quality copies are obtained over a long period and to provide a process cartridge which is freely attachable and detachable to and from the image forming apparatus and has a long replacement cycle. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic photoreceptor is obtained by using an atmospheric pressure plasma discharging process method and by forming an intermediate layer on the electroconductive surface of an electroconductive support and also by forming a protective layer on the organic photoconductive layer.
