PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical fiber spacer while controlling the locus of a slot highly precisely so that it becomes a specified locus. SOLUTION: In the optical fiber spacer manufacturing method, the optical fiber spacer 1 having a tensile body 3 inside, also having a resin layer around the tensile body 3 and having a plurality of slots 4 for housing an optical fiber on the outer peripheral surface of the resin layer is manufactured. In the case of forming the slot 4 by extruding melted resin for forming the resin layer around the tensile body 3 in the head part 6 of an extruder 5 and also rotating a rotating die 7 arranged in the head part 6, the absolute rotational angle of the rotating die 7 is detected, and the rotation of the rotating die 7 is feedback-controlled based on the detected absolute rotational angle, and the slot 4 is changed cyclically and formed along in a center axis line direction on the outer peripheral surface.
